Closed Captioning & Subtitles in Private Beta

Closed Captioning is one of the most under appreciated but vitally important features hiding in modern media. When it started becoming widely available in 1973, it was assumed that it would appeal primarily to deaf or hard of hearing people. As many studies have found – most recently by the Office of Communications in the UK – nearly 80% of people who used closed captioning are neither deaf nor hard of hearing.

The most common cases cited are:

  • To understand dialogue which is delivered quickly over background noise or with accents;
  • To maintain concentration when competing with other distractions; or
  • To watch videos in environments such as libraries, bars, etc.

So towards that goal, as of today we are launching our private beta of our API for Closed Captioning and Subtitles. We’re still working out a few details but it’s already working great for our use cases, now we want to let you try yours.

Just sign up here and we’ll contact you with details:
